Our Story.

A Legacy of Care. A Future Built on Expertise

Since opening its doors in 1999, Hillside Kennels has been the region’s premier destination for quality dog boarding, grooming, and training. Located just 5 miles outside of Oneonta on over 5 acres of quiet countryside, we’ve built our reputation on one simple promise: to treat every dog like our own.

Originally established by passionate local dog lovers, Hillside quickly became known for its personal touch, clean facilities, and dependable care. Over the years, we’ve earned the trust of families throughout the area — becoming more than just a kennel, but a second home for their pets.

In 2024, Hillside Kennels began a new chapter under the ownership of Kelley, a formally trained canine care professional with a Bachelor’s Degree in Canine Training & Management. Kelley brings a deep love for dogs, years of hands-on experience, and a fresh energy to the Hillside mission — enhancing what has always made us special while looking ahead to even better service for our clients.

At Hillside, we’re proud to say we’re not one of the “big guys.” We’re a local business, grounded in relationships and built on trust. That means personalized care, consistent communication, and a priority on safety — every single day. Whether it’s a weekend stay, a behavior consult, or just a nail trim, your dog is cared for by people who genuinely love what they do.

If you're looking for a facility that combines top-tier service with a homegrown feel, you’ve found it. Come see the Hillside difference — where tails wag, owners breathe easy, and dogs come back excited for more.

Our Team.

Here are the People behind the Paws, at Hillside Kennels, our team is more than staff — we’re dog lovers, animal advocates, and dedicated caretakers. Every member of our crew shares a deep commitment to the well-being of your pet, and we pride ourselves on treating every dog like family.
